
To put things simply the team finishing in 2nd place will play-off against the 2nd place teams from the East and North and the 11th placed team in National 1. The winner will play in National 1 next season.
The team finishing in 12th place will play-off against the winner of the Regional 1 play-off with the winner playing in National 2 West next season. Full details attached.
Full Format for National League 2
⁃ Competition Format
⁃ 42 participating teams. Split into three geographic leagues (North, East, West) of 14 teams. ⁃ Each team plays on a home and away basis, for a total of 26 games.
⁃ The 1st placed team in each league is promoted to National 1.
⁃ The 13th and 14th placed teams in each league are relegated to Regional 1.
⁃ The 2nd placed team in each league qualifies for the NLR1 Accession Semi-Finals.
⁃ Promotion Play-Offs
⁃ 4 teams (11th placed National 1 and 3 x 2nd placed National 2) participate.
⁃ National 2 Participants will be seeded based on their respective playing record.
⁃ The highest seeded teams (11th National 1 and best National 2 playing record) hold home advantage. ⁃ Winners meet to decide the 14th and final team in National 1.
⁃ Ramifications for season 2026/2027
⁃ The Champions of each National 2 league are promoted to National 1. ⁃ Winner of the NLR 1 Accession Final will play in National 1.
⁃ The six champions of Regional 1 are promoted to National 2.
⁃ The three winners of the NLR 2 Accession Finals will play in National 2.
⁃ The 13th and 14th placed teams in National 2 are relegated to Regional 1.
⁃ The 12th placed team in each league will participate in the NLR 2 Accession Finals. ⁃ Teams finishing 12th-14th in National 1 are relegated to National 2.
