On a grey, cold, drizzly morning Redruth RFC U13s, captained by Ciaran Hicks, travelled to the always hospitable Perranporth with a small squad.

Redruth started the game slowly and let in the first converted Try after some unusual poor defending by the backs.Connor Hendy replied immediately with a similar try with a fast strong run around and through the Perranporth backs.

The Reds pack were made to work hard against a very strong Perran pack and with Jack Hitchens leading the way, he eventually got his deserved Try after smashing through the Perran defence.

Half-time: Perranporth 7 Redruth 10

Redruth, as in the first half, went behind early in the second half, after again missing tackles to let Perran score under the posts and convert.

From that moment on Redruth raised their game and went on to dominate the majority on the second half. First the inspirational No8 Josh Hart scored 2 tries, (unlucky not to be 3) the first was picked from the back of the scrum to dash in over the Try-line (Connor Hendy converted) and the second was typicallly Josh Hart, bulldozing and handing off his opponents to make the try-line.

The Reds Fly-Half Jack Morrison then finished in style after a fantastic jinking run beating 4 opponents to dive over the try-line. (Ryan Daughtery converted)

Finally Ryan Daughtery scored an awesome Try after Connor Hendy made some good ground from his own 22 and then switched the ball inside for Ryda to sprint over half the pitch and beat the Perran Full-Back to clinically finish under the post.

Despite the poor weather the game finished Perranporth 14 Redruth 34 and made good viewing with some tough and entertaining Rugby played by both sides.
