On Saturday the 2's take centre stage as they host St.Austell II 'Counties 2 Tribute Cornwall' with a 2.30pm KO.
St.Austell II 'The Sinners' were the best 2nd team in Cornwall in 2022/2023 when they won the 2nd XV cup and finished the league in 4th place one above the Reds who were 5th but with 7 more wins than the Reds. This season has gone generally well and they have won 4 of their 5 matches, the wins coming over Bodmin 57-22, St.Just 45-15, Newquay Hornets 36-17 and Liskeard-Looe 20-0 their only defeat being against the Reds as detailed below.
This leaves them in 3rd place on 20 points.
The Redruth 2nds have had a frustrating start to the season with 2 of their first 5 matches being postponed for differing but very understandable reasons but despite this they have a perfect won 3 played 3 record.
The games the Reds have played though have gone very well beating a useful Perranporth side by 34-17, Saturdays visitors St.Austell Sinners by 7-48 away and last Saturday winning 71-14 away to Illogan Park. These results put them in 4th place on a maximum 15 points with game(s) in hand over all the other teams in the league.
Dean Wills is having a great season and tops the try tally with 6 and the point tally on a mammoth 73. Jayden Oakes is not far behind try wise with 5. Despite the Reds having only played 3 matches Dean is leading both the points and try tables for the league and Jayden is second in the try charts.
