Saltash v Redruth - KO 2.30pm - Counties 2 Tribute Cornwall
OK we've been looking forward to this game for weeks now and its almost upon us. On Saturday baring Earthquakes or Hurricanes the Counties 2 Tribute Cornwall title will be all but decided, its winner takes all, almost! There are permutations where Redruth could lose but still top the table but we won't go into those now as its too complicated for this preview!
In any sane world somebody in authority would look at the results both sides have been putting in this season, sweeping all before them and both sides would be promoted. But this is rugby and its an insane sport at the best of times!
Our hosts are having a great season and have won 19 of their 20 matches, they have 96 points and a +824 points difference. The Ashes are a very experienced outfit and looking at their side who beat Newquay Hornet 62-7 last week they had appearances that averaged 140 per person. This is in marked difference to the Redruth side who beat Bodmin 38-5 which averaged 36 per person, a number boosted by Matt Bowden who was the only player to top 100 appearances. The Ashes only defeat came at the hands of the Reds 2nds on December 2nd when the home side won by 33-24. The match ended with Saltash intercepting on half-way and going in for their bonus point try with the last phase the match, this point may prove vital at the final reckoning.
The Reds are of course on top of the league with 99 points having won all of their 20 matches and have a +839 points difference.
A supporters bus will be making the trip and is leaving, along with the team bus, at 11am on Saturday, don't be late!
At the time of writing there were a couple of spots available on the supporters bus, call Theresa Parr on 07919 141590.
GOOD LUCK REDS WE ARE ALL BEHIND YOU
Look out for team news on Friday
