Redruth II v St.Ives
The visit of the Hakes heralds the first of two fixtures over the weekend where every available member of the Redruth RFC squad will get a run out.
Last season St.Ives were comfortable winners of ‘Counties 2 Tribute Cornwall’ and earned promotion to the snappily titled ‘Counties 1 Tribute Western West’. St.Ives won 20 of their 22 matches, drew another and suffered only one defeat away to Veor by 34-30. St.Ives averaged 42.65 points per game and their top try scorers were Jordan Jeffery (Wing) and Levi Webster (Hooker) both on 6 and top points scorer being Edwin ‘Grant’ Thirlby (Fly-Half) on 72.
Former Reds that may appear in the Hakes squad are the Prisk brothers, Grant Thirlby and Jimmy Stevens who some may remember as a former Redruth Colt and who has spent much of his rugby career playing in the Championship for Coventry and Nottingham.
The Reds expect to field a strong side to face the challenge expected to be set by St.Ives as they prepare for the season ahead in ‘Counties 2 Tribute Cornwall’.
