Another crucial match for the Reds this Saturday as they Redruth travel to Worthing for a 2nd plays 4th clash. At only 254 miles away the match will seem like a local derby compared to visiting Bury St.Edmunds a few weeks back.
Worthing play their rugby at The Rugby Park (a name no doubt the result of countless meetings and focus groups) and moved there in 1977 and now offer first class rugby facilities, that have earned them the designation Centre of Excellence for Sussex Rugby.
Worthing are currently in 4th place on 96 points having won 18 of their 25 matches. The Raiders would be in 2nd place but for a last play of the game home defeat to Esher 2 weeks back. Last time out Worthing travelled to Hinckley and surprisingly lost narrowly by 31-26.
Our opponent’s top points scorer is a name most Reds fans will be familiar with in that of Matthew McLean (wing/full-back) on a massive 243 points and their top try scorers are McLean and Jack Forrest (centre) both on 13 .
Earlier in the season Worthing won the encounter at the Recreation ground by by 24-10 a game played in bright sunshine and gale force winds courtesy of storm Whateveritwascalled.
The Reds come into this match after a convincing 49-10 home win over Canterbury. This win has kept the Reds in 2nd on 99 pts, 3 points behind leaders Esher and 3 points clear of Clifton and Worthing.
So far this season only 1 player has featured in all 25 matches and that is of course Richard 'I've lost my contact lens' Brown. Top of the tries are Richard Brown 14, Jack Oulton & Will Trewin both on 11. Frazer Honey tops the points tally with 165 and Will Trewin is on 115. So far this season 44 players have taken the field for the Reds. Redruth continue to have the best defensive record in the league having only conceded 419 points, 72 less that next best side Leicester Lions who have played one game less than the Reds.
