Memorial Game for James Huxtable
On Saturday Redruth welcome Canterbury RFC who make the long trip down from Kent as East meets West. The 3pm kick-off will suit our opponents who always kick-off their home games at this time regardless of the oppositions travel.
Our opponents play their rugby at Merton Lane which is just off the A2 but on the outskirts of the city so any visit to the ground will not include the delights of the ancient city home of course to Chaucer's tales. The turning off the A2 is a bit of an experience in its self as it includes a right angled bend with no slip road off the busy A2, slightly hair-raising in a slow turning coach! The club has an atmospheric traditional clubhouse and a permanently sited large marquee that hosts the pre-match hospitality. Canterbury run 5 adult sides, a ladies XV and even a wheelchair side, the clubs colours are 'Black & Gold', how dare they!
Our opponents are having a difficult season with 9 wins and 1 draw from their 23 games. The club finds itself in 12th place with 49 points.
Last time out Canterbury secured a home win by 30-24 over Hinckley but have only manged one win away from home and that coming at bottom of the table Barnstaple.
Canterbury's top points scorer is Kyan Braithwaite (Centre) on 98 points and their top try scorer is Dwayne Corcoran (winger) on 8 trys.
Earlier in the season the Reds won at Canterbury by 22-26, the game being every bit as close as the score suggests, Corcoran proved to be a real handful on the day with his elusive running.
The Reds come into this match after a battling 32-38 win at Bury St.Edmunds after being 29-13 down at half-time. The Reds comeback epitomising the character and never-say-die attitude the team has shown all season. This win left the Reds on top of the league but last Saturday Esher snatched a last minute away win over Worthing by 30-29 to go top. The Reds are now in 2nd place on 94pts only 3 behind leaders Esher are Worthing are third on the same points as the Reds and Clifton 4th on 91pts.
Richard Brown remains an ever present playing in all 24 matches. Top of the tries are Richard Brown 14, Jack Oulton 11 and Will Trewin 10. Frazer Honey tops the points tally with 115 with Will Trewin not too far back on 110. The Reds have comfortably the best defence in the league conceding only 409 pts, 77 less than next best Leicester Lions who have only played 1 game less than the Reds.

2nds News - Kernow League
Last time out the 2nd team overcame Illogan Park 12-0 in a match played in traditional rugby weather, 60 mph winds and driving, freezing rain. The win leaves the side in second place and on Saturday they travel to take on unbeaten leaders St.Ives.
Colts
The Colts have reached the final of the Cornwall Cup with a narrow win by 36-33 away at Wadebridge Camels in the semi-final.
The final will be played on April 9th against Launceston at St.Austell. Well done to the young Reds.
