This Saturday Redruth travel a mere 375 miles (according to AA autoroute) to take on Bury St.Edmunds.
Bury St.Edmunds play their rugby at The Haberden and as well as having a large modern clubhouse and a decent grandstand boast an all weather pitch.
Bury St.Edmunds are currently in 7th place on 64 points having won 12 of their 22 matches. They are currently on an 8 match unbeaten run, a sequence that includes 2 draws and 2 one point victories. Last time out Bury travelled to Hinckley and won convincingly by 48-28.
Our opponent’s top points scorer is Charlie Reed (full-back) on 194 points and their top try scorer is Matthew Bursey (Flanker) on 8 trys.
Earlier in the season Redruth won by 31-18 in a game where all of Redruth's points came in the second half.
The Reds come into this match after a thumping 54-17 home win over Guernsey Raiders who were unable to cope with the power of the home pack and their driving maul in particular. This win has put the Reds back on top of the table on 89 pts, 2 points ahead of Esher and Worthing and 3 points clear of Clifton. Esher & Worthing still to play their game in hand against each other.
So far this season only 1 player has featured in all 23 matches and that is of course Richard Brown. Top of the tries are Richard Brown 14, Jack Oulton & Will Trewin both on 10. Frazer Honey tops the points tally with 140 and Will Trewin is on 110. So far this season 43 players have taken the field for the Reds. The Reds have the best defensive record in the league at present having only conceded 377 points comfortably less than any other team in the league.
2nds News
If you are unable to make the trip to Bury then why not watch the 2nds take on Illogan Park in the Kernow League. Last week the 2nds had an amazing 41-41 draw away to Bodmin, clearly not a game to please a defence coach!
