On Saturday Redruth welcome to the Recreation Ground for the first time Hinckley RFC. Hinckley will be making the long trip from Leicestershire and this may be their only ever visit to Hellfire Corner as it's possible that after league organisation next season they might find themselves playing in National 2 South/South-East or even National 2 North.
Hinckley are another club at our level who boast a superb clubhouse and their main function room is capable of seating 300 people. The only ever meeting between our two club came earlier this season when Redruth swept Hinckley away by 41 - 7. But as you will see below their form latterly has been much more impressive and this promises to be yet another stern test for the Reds.
Hinckley currently are lying in 12th place on 36 points having won 6 of their 15 matches but that does not really give a true reflection of their season as they conspired to lose 7 of their first 8 matches. Since then results have been much more impressive and include a superb 26-28 away win at Worthing.
Last week Hinckley had an excellent 26-28 away win at Old Albanian. What’s with the 26-28 points away wins? Hinckley’s top point’s scorer is Joseph Wilson (full-back) on a massive 141 points and their top try scorers are Adam Johnson (hooker) and Rory Vowles (fly-half) on 7 trys.
The Reds come into this match after an gutsy 21-21 draw at Henley Hawks. This leaves the Reds in 3rd place on 59 points still in touch with the top two sides.
So far this season only 1 player has featured in all 16 league matches and if you read these previews you will be aware that must be Richard Brown and amazingly 42 players in total have featured. Top of the tries are Richard Brown 9(all solo efforts from long range), Jack Oulton 8 & Kyle Bradley 7. Frazer Honey tops the points tally with 99 but will he get the kicking tee back from Will Trewin? I'll keep asking that question until they play together again and we know the answer!
