Barnstaple is a proper rugby town with their rugby team being far better supported than the football team that is their direct neighbour. They play at Pottington road on the edge of the town and have a very good clubhouse and a large grandstand. The clubs ethos is similar to the Reds as they have long had one of the best mini-junior and colts set-ups in Devon and believe in ‘growing their own’.

Barum are having a difficult season on their return to the National Leagues currently lying 15th, on 10 points with only 2 wins to their name. Those 2 victories came at home over both of the Southend sides, Rotchford and Westcliff. Outside of this probably their best other performance was a narrow 14-17 loss at home to Leicester Lions. A -284 points difference speaks for its self but the Reds will not take this task likely as at home Barum will always be a handful. Barnstaple’s top points scorer is former Launceston player Jake Murphy (fly-half) on 69 points and their top try scorer is Flynn Elworthy (back row) on 4. Former Redruth player Connor Swan is a regular member of the 1st team squad and may well line-up against his former teammates.

The Reds come into this match after a hard fought 15-0 over Dings Crusaders. Injuries seem to be the talk of the clubhouse but the hard work over the Covid19 lockdown and in pre-season is paying dividends and the squad is still pulling out the performances week-on-week. Despite the win the Reds have dropped to 2nd place as Esher managed a bonus point win over Canterbury.
It's tight at the top though with only 7 points covering the top 5 places.

So far this season only 1 player has featured in all 13 league matches, step forward and take a bow Richard Brown. A remarkable 38 players in total have featured. Top of the tries are Jack Oulton 8, Kyle Bradley 7 & Richard Brown 5. Frazer Honey tops the points tally with 99 but will he get the kicking tee back from Will Trewin?
