Next up for the Reds are Westcliff, who contrary to that suggested by their name are anything but west! Indeed, they could hardly be further east as they play their rugby in Southend, a stones throw from the Thames Estuary just 320 miles to the east of Redruth. Needless to say, this entails a Friday evening start for the Reds.
The Reds will travel in great spirits following their 49-12 demolition of Clifton last Saturday, a win that takes club into 2nd place just 3 points behind Worthing with a game hand.
Westcliff have had a torrid start to the season and are currently in 16th please with just the solitary bonus point to their name after losing all six of their matches. Any complacency in the Reds camp will no doubt be quickly stamped out as Westcliff have never lost to Redruth! The one and only meeting between the two clubs took place on 23rd November 2019 with Westcliff coming out on top by 24 – 19. That was Westcliff’s last match at their old ground before their move to purpose built new facilities at The Gables which includes a very plush clubhouse. That match was also the Reds last defeat in League rugby.
Good luck Reds, travel safely and keep the great run going.
