On Saturday Redruth are pleased to welcome to Hellfire Corner, league leaders Henley Hawks.
The Hawks are having a fantastic season and are looking certain to occupy one of the top two places and could well win the league. Last Saturday the Hawks, away at Worthing, won by 33-7 which leaves them in 1st place on 80 points, 4 clear of the nearest rivals Tonbridge Juddians.

In previous season’s results between the two sides have generally gone in favour of the home side although last season the Hawks did the double over the Reds winning at the Rec by 16-20 and at Henley by 21-17. Earlier this season though the Reds came away from Henley with a 20-20 draw.

The Reds come into the game after last Saturday’s excellent away performance at Dings Crusaders where the Reds combined gritty defence in the first quarter with clinical finishing whenever a chance to score came. This victory made it (if you count Boxing Day ‘and we do’) 8 wins on the bounce for the Reds and the squad will be looking forward to the challenge presented by the league leaders on Saturday. This leaves the Reds clear in 4th place with 68 points. The Reds top points scorer so far is Fraser Honey on 144 and the top try scorer is Matt Shepherd with 10, but Dean Bonds is chasing him hard on 7. Only one player, Jack Simmons has played in all of the 19 league matches.

Farmers Day on Saturday at the Rec so let’s hope the Reds players are also ‘outstanding in their field’!
