Redruth v Taunton Titans
Saturday 21st December 2019 – Kick-off 2.00pm
Referee: Adam Wookey.
Assistant Referees: Kevin Williams & Grant Mossford.
On Saturday Redruth welcome to Hellfire Corner our ‘local derby’ opponents Taunton Titans.
The Titans have been having a brilliant season and with the league at the half-way point are in a magnificent 3rd place only 2 points off the lead. Last Saturday the Titans brushed aside Old Reds with an impressive 5 – 33 away win to keep the pressure up on the top 2, promotion beckons. Let’s hope the Reds have put a dent in their ambitions come final whistle on Saturday.
In previous seasons results between the two sides have been high scoring tight affairs, last season the Reds won 29-27 at home but lost the return fixture by 33-35. See what I mean! Earlier this season though the Titans won, on a blistering hot day, 29-12 in a game that was a lot closer than the score line suggests.
The Reds come into the game after last Saturdays win over Bournemouth. This victory made it 6 wins in 7 outings for the Reds and the squad will be itching to prove themselves against one of the league’s best sides. This leaves the Reds in 5th place with 50 points. The Reds top points scorer so far is Fraser Honey on 110 and the top try scorer is Matt Shepherd with 7. Only one player, Jack Simmons has played in all of the 15 league matches.
With a big Christmas crowd expected get to the ground early to sample the pre-match atmosphere and then give it the big Hellfire roar and get behind the Reds as they aim to topple the Titans.
Dos war ty ruth (come on you Reds).
