Redruth hit top form to win by five tries to three against a very capable Henley team in the Thames Valley - Report by Ed Bawden

The Reds led 15-20 at the interval and playing up the slope in the second half the relentless play of the Redruth pack spearheaded by Sam Matavesi and Ben Priddey paid dividends as they took charge of the game.
There were outstanding performances all over the pitch for the Reds but 17 points from the boot of Ashley Hosking who put over difficult kicks at important times was the icing on the cake.
On a dry sunny day Redruth showed their intentions from the kick off with Matavesi bashing over for a try on the blind side after three minutes, Hosking converting from the left hand touchline to get the Reds off to a great start.
The hosts showed their ability when they hit back with two tries in six minutes. First after Connor Swan could not control a rolling ball Marcus Low hacked ahead and just beat Kyle Marriott to the touchdown.
Going through a number of phases with some good offloads Henley took play up the field from the restart and flanker Dave Hyde picked a good line to open up a big gap in the Reds defence to go over near the posts for George Jackson to convert.
Redruth got back into the game after 19 minutes when Hosking hit a penalty from the half way line high and handsome as it cleared the bar with plenty to spare.
Following a penalty kicked to the corner Priddey controlled the driving maul well before breaking away for a try after 32 minutes that Hosking Converted.
Henley hit back with a 30 meter penalty from Jackson but were left to rue an overthrow at a line out close to the line and putting the ball to ground when they created a 2 on 1 with Hosking to beat as they went in training by five points at the interval.

Marriott played for most of the first half with his ankle strapped but his half time replacement Brad Howe put in a number of runs in a strong performance.
The first score in the second half was going to be important and the Reds forwards did the work in the home 22 to create space for Matt Bowden to go over wide out on the left, Hosking converted.
With the game going in the Reds favour a yellow card for former Exmouth hooker Tom Emery was costly for the home side. Teenage replacement on the wing for Redruth Alexander “AJ” Cant confirmed his promise when despite being checked he kept going down the right wing to outpace the cover for the bonus point try after 62 minutes, Hosking converting from touch to open up a 19 point gap.
A try in the left hand corner for former Premiership player Alan Awcock converted by Jackson with ten minutes to go left the home supporters with hope but a 30 meter penalty just to the left of the posts from Hosking made the game safe for the Reds with seven minutes to play
Henley chased to consolation of one or possibly two bonus points but the pressing of the Redruth defence forced errors.
Just before the end Rob Coote who moved to scrum half when Swan was injured raced away down the right wing the Henley cover cut him off but Reds skipper Richard Brown was on hand to touchdown the fifth try in a memorable Redruth performance and ensured the team bus returned to the Recreation ground in high spirits.
