This coming weekend first takes on second when Taunton come to the Recreation Ground. This will certainly be the clash of the season so far with both sides defending unbeaten records.

Titans arrive off the back of a tough encounter with Hornets. The Weston-super-Mare side travelled with just one victory to their credit but pushed the Titans all the way, twice coming back into the game after falling well behind. In the end Taunton managed to hold on for a 36-34 win.

Just points difference separates our two sides and the Reds face what promises to be a hard-fought encounter. Taunton have been one of the form sides in National 2 and have rarely finished outside the top four for the last ten seasons. They had a spell in National League 1 between 2021 and 2024 and were just one point from safety when they dropped.

In Tony Yapp they have one of the most experienced coaches in the game, who has been at the helm for some 15 years. During his time the club has produced a number of players who have moved on to bigger things with, among others, Exeter Chiefs, Bristol Bears and Worcester.

The Reds will be buoyed up by fine displays in what has been the best start to the season for many years, culminating last week in a decisive win at Exeter University. It was a mature performance from what is still a young side, the highlight of which was the effective neutralising of the University’s speedy back division. They will have to step up another gear when they face Taunton.
