Redruth 1st XV travel to Weston super Mare this coming Saturday for our second match of the season against Hornets. I’m probably tempting fate by pointing out that we currently have a 100% record in our games against Hornets, P7 W6 D1. Earlier this season a combination of pack power, coupled with a tenacious defence, saw us score 26 points with no rely.
The Reds travel buoyed up by a powerful, and very muddy performance against Exeter University at the Rec. Again it was the power of the pack that laid the foundation for a bonus point victory, although credit to the students who tried hard to unleash their fast backs but found themselves struggling in the conditions. That victory, with its welcome five points, sees us move three places up the table.
Hornets are currently two places, and just four points above us after squeezing out a one point win at Chester with a try in the dying seconds of the game. With Chester travelling to Taunton and Old Reds hosting Camborne, there is a really good chance to put some daylight between us and the sides below.
