After last week’s break the Reds are back on the road for the near 700 mile round trip to the north west to face Chester. They travel knowing that they need a big effort to get back to winning ways after four consecutive defeats have seen them drop to ninth in the table.
The game against Luctonians two weeks ago saw the Reds turn round two points up but their powerful opponents, who are sniffing at Camborne’s tail at the top of the table, went on to run in five tries in succession for a comprehensive 54-19 defeat.
Chester currently sit in 11th place in the table after a 55-24 home defeat at the hands of Hinckley who are visitors at Redruth on 13th December. Chester have not won a game since their comprehensive 71-19 home defeat of Exeter University back at the beginning of October.
Last season Chester were in National Two North finishing in ninth place in the table. They switched places with Macclesfield for season 2025/26. Our last game against Chester was back on 10th Feb 2024 when we won 17-9 here at the Rec. The previous match at Chester in October 2023 saw the Reds go down 38-20.
Chester won promotion to National League Two North back in 2013. Six years later they finished second in the table, earning them a play-off against Canterbury, the second-placed side in National Two South. However, the long trip to Kent proved a bit too much and they went down 19-10
