In a well contested game, an interception try for the Students midway through the second half had a big influence in the final outcome.
On balance the Students just about deserved their win on the day, although the Reds come home with a four try bonus point they will be disappointed not to have had at least a losing bonus point as well.

On the half hour mark Loughborough regained the lead with a sharp catch and drive try in the right hand corner for hooker Isaac Bell.

Redruth failed to take a good chance with a line out near the home line early in the second half. The students dominated territory but Redruth were defending comfortably to hold on to their lead. After taking play back to half way an interception by Ed Harvey saw him run 40 meters unopposed to touchdown at the posts, the conversion putting the students ahead with 20 minutes to go.
The understanding of Referee Neil Sweeney ensured both sides got chances to play, with time running out a well worked try by Olly Fisher ensured a win for the Students, who followed up with another by replacement hooker Seb Smith, Ben Taylor converting to open up a 16 point lead. An interception try by Dean Bonds gave the Reds some hope in stoppage time and while there was still time for them to get a fifth try the students saw the game out for just their seventh win of the season.
