On Saturday Redruth welcome to the Recreation Ground Loughborough Students RFC with a 2pm Kick-off.
If you are not up on your geography Loughborough is in the county of Leicestershire and the University has long had a deserved reputation of a centre of excellence for sports.
Loughborough is a market town in the Charnwood borough of Leicestershire, the seat of Charnwood Borough Council and Loughborough University. At the 2021 census the town's built-up area, including Shepshed, had a population of 109,100, the second largest in the county after Leicester. It is close to the Nottinghamshire border and short distances from Leicester, Nottingham, East Midlands Airport and Derby. It has the world's largest bell foundry, John Taylor Bellfounders, which made bells for the Carillon War Memorial, a landmark in the Queens Park in the town, of Great Paul for St Paul's Cathedral, and for York Minster.
Loughborough have not had the greatest of starts to the season but the problem when evaluating a University side is that you never know what team they are going to field especially as the National Leagues comes second in priority to their BUCS Super Rugby fixtures. But whatever side the Students field on Saturday one thing is for certain is that they will be fast!
The Students have won twice this season against Bournville last week at home by 31-27 and away to league newbies Dudley Kingswinford by 46-7. This leaves them in 11th place on 14 points.
Loughborough Students top try scorer is Mario Pichardie Garcia (No.8) on 4 and their top points scorer on 25 is Morgan Meredith (Fly-Half).
Last season the two fixtures between the two clubs produced two thrillers with the away side prevailing on both occasions, the Reds winning by 33-32 in the East Midlands and the Students getting their revenge by 33-31 at the Rec.
The Reds come into this match after a disappointing result but not performance up in Cheshire against Chester RFC. The home side won by 38-20, a score line that does not reflect the game and the Reds can consider themselves unlucky not get something out of the match. This result leaves the Reds in 9th place on 14 points.
At this early stage Tommy Phillips tops the try charts with 3 and Jordan Gott is top points scorer with 36.
Look out for team news on Friday.
