On Saturday Redruth RFC travel to Bristol to take on familiar opposition in Dings Crusaders at their state of the art facilities complete with a floodlit 3G pitch.
Dings are having a great season and are currently in 3rd place with 68 points although that is still 16 points behind leaders Leicester Lions. Dings have a point’s difference of +89 and have won 13 of their 18 matches. Incidentally they have won more, and lost less, matches away from home than they have at home. Dings have specialised in close matches this season with 9 of their matches having a margin of 7 points or less. Top points scorer for Dings is Ciaran Donoghue (full-back) with 122 points and top try scorer is Matt Smith (centre) with 11. Dings best victory has to be their 15-19 away win at Leicester Lions but probably the one that gave them the most satisfaction was last weeks derby victory at Clifton by 26-27.
The Reds should come into this match in good heart after last weeks thrilling 26-20 victory over Exeter University. The result of this game being in doubt right up to the final whistle, the nerves may not stand another one like that this week! The Reds have quietly put together a good run of victories and have now won 5 on the bounce or 6 if you include Boxing Day.
Redruth are now in 4th place with 65 points and have a +230 points difference.
Stats: Frazer Honey has notched up 161 points the highest in National 2 West and try wise Richard Brown leads with 12 the second highest in National 2 West behind Constant of Leicester Lions. The Reds are the second highest scorers in National 2 West at home with 384 points and have won the most home matches with 9.
Referee: Ben Wood.
Assistant Referees: Brian Ravenhill & Christopher Bartlett.
