On Saturday Redruth welcome to the Recreation Ground Old Redcliffians who make the short trip down from Bristol.
In the game earlier in the season Redruth achieved their first ever away league win over the Old Reds and so by consequence have the chance on Saturday to do the double over our opponents for the first time.
The Old Reds are having a decent season looking certain to retain their National 2 West league status and are currently in 9th place having won 7 of their 17 games. Their best result was probably a recent 20-30 away win at Exeter University. Old Reds have 38 league points and a -87 points difference.
Their kicker is A.Groves (fly-half) who has 140 points and their top try scorer is J.Cook (Centre) who is on 9.
Last time out Old Reds beat Barnstaple at home by 36-31 with Barnstaple only narrowing the score line with a last minute converted try.
The Reds come into this match after a disappointing 50-19 defeat away at Dings Crusaders. The Reds led 19-7 after 18 mins and were looking good but a combination of disruptive injuries in the back division and 3 tries conceded in a yellow card period sunk the Reds. Dings for their part played some great rugby in the 2nd period and are a difficult proposition in that form.
Will todays match follow the pattern of the last two home games where more points were scored playing towards the Scoreboard than playing towards Hellfire Corner. I would suggest unlikely!
Stats
Redruth are now in 5th place on 65 points having won 13 of their 18 games and with a +199 points difference.
Fraser Honey continues to rack up the points and is now on 165 which makes him the highest points scorer in National 2 West.
The top try scorer is Richard Brown with 14 which makes him the highest try scorer in National 2 West.
Look out for team news on Friday.
