Match Preview

On Saturday the Reds continue their pre-season preparations as they travel to clay country to take on St.Austell.

The 'Saints' had a fantastic 2022/2023 season winning Regional 2 Tribute South-West (Level 6). In the course of this victory they won an impressive 20 out of 22 matches and scored 1043 points. Their top points scorer was Matt Shepherd (full-back) with 441 points and their top try score was also Shepherd on 34 tries. Also in the tries were Konnor Ewudzi (centre) with 18 and Dan Tyrrell (wing) with 17.
The St.Austell senior section as a whole is doing well with their 2nd team the 'Sinners' finishing high up in Counties 2 Tribute Cornwall and their 3rd team the 'Spartans' entering the league structure this coming season.
Expect to see some former Reds in the Saints squad such as Matt Shepherd, Kyle Marriott, Dan Job and former Reds captain Sam Parsons.

St.Austell have facilities that are the envy of many, following the sale of their former ground to Asda the move to Tregorrick Park became complete in 1990 and they boast a superb clubhouse, stand, floodlights and a number of other pitches.

After fielding an inexperienced squad last week against Plymouth Albion this weekend the Reds are expected to be closer to full strength.
One thing that is almost certain is that it won't be as windy as last Saturday!
