Launceston 14 - 25 Redruth

In a match played on a good surface despite the heavy rain all day and during the match Redruth won with a bit to spare against a competitive Launceston side. The Reds were on the scoreboard early on when Tommy Philips crashed over after multiple phases in the Launceston 22, Fraser Honey slotted the conversion. Only 2 minutes later though Launceston hit back, Redruth conceded two penalties in quick succession and Launceston after kicking to the corner drove over from a 5-metre line out for a try which was well converted from the touchline. The Reds then had the better of the half and moved into the lead with unconverted tries from Brad Janes and Fraser Honey.

Redruth started the 2nd half with a bang and it was no surprise when Richard Brown peeled away from a driving maul to score another unconverted try. The Reds dominated much of the remainder of the half, spending a great deal of time in the Launceston 22 but were only able to add a penalty from Richard Kevern. The last quarter, as with many friendly matches, became a little disjointed as both teams made numerous substitutions. It was Launceston who had the final word; a Reds line out on their 10 metre line was overthrown and Ryan Westren stormed onto the ball at pace and burst through the Reds defences for a well taken try which was again converted.
