Neil was hugely respected both within and outside the game and joined the club in 1990 and originally played as a back row forward, it wasn't until 1994 that he took the opportunity to convert to the front row where he established himself as an outstanding loose head prop. He represented Cornwall and played over 100 1st XV games for the Reds. He was captain during the clubs 125th Anniversary season and played his last game in 2011.

In memory of Neil, his rugby mates are undertaking a fundraising walk starting on Thursday 12th January 2023 from Wadebridge Camels RFC (Neil's first club), the group will the walk to Padstow via the Camel Trail and then pick up the Cornish coast path at Trevose finishing at Mawgan Porth on Day 1 (this is about 16 miles). Day 2 starts at Mawgan Porth and will pass through Watergate Bay, Newquay, Crantock, Perranporth and finish at St Agnes (21 miles). Day 3 will start from St Agnes and follow the coast path Porthtowan and then inland to Redruth RFC arriving there around 12:30pm on Saturday (approx 8 miles) in time for the Players Reunion. There will be a bucket collection at the match on Saturday as well.
