On Sunday the Cornwall U20 side look to advance into the semi-finals of the Jason Leonard Cup when they take on Berkshire U20.
Entry fee is a bargain at only £5
It is hoped that a big crowd will turn up to watch the young Cornishmen as they look to emulate other Cornish sides who have achieved county rugby success at this famous old ground. Nothing matches Hellfire Corner, Redruth, when Cornwall take to the field.
The men in ‘Black and Gold’ have advanced to the quarter-finals with a home win over Devon and then a fantastic away win in Somerset. In the match against Somerset, they had to come back from a 21-0 deficit to overcome the home side showing great character in the process. Berkshire reach this point after two narrow victories, they beat Dorset & Wilts at home and then triumphed in an impressive away victory against the always strong Gloucesterhire.
2025
Cornwall 46 – 15 Devon
Somerset 35 – 47 Cornwall
Berkshire 33 – 29 Dorset & Wilts
Gloucestershire 22 – 26 Berkshire
History in this championship is hard to find and the RFU site only has records going back to 2004, but since that time Cornwall and Berkshire have both had success in this tournament. Cornwall were victorious in 2022 and runners up in 2018 whereas Berkshire were winners in 2013 and runners-up in 2015.
