On Saturday the Reds take the relatively short trip up the A30 and M5 to home of Dings Crusaders.
Dings are having a season to remember and are currently on top of the table with 101 points. They are 7 points ahead of 2nd place Luctonians and only need 4 points from their last to home games against the Reds and Camborne to clinch the title. So this will be no normal end of season match on Saturday and the Reds will come up against a Dings outfit determined to get the job done ASAP.
Dings have won 20, drawn 1 of their 24 fixtures and have a +454 points difference their top try score is Joseph Hawkesby (hooker) with 17 and
Jacob Perry (fly-half) tops the points tally with 126. Last week they won away at Newport (Salop) by 45 - 13.
Back in December at the recreation Ground Dings won the encounter between the two clubs by 26-5.
A framed photo of the image on this preview was presented to the club last December by Dings, a great gesture, and if they are promoted we will miss our bi-annual meetings with our old rugby friends.
Last Saturday the Reds had an unexpected blank weekend when their match with Dudley Kingswinford was postponed due to the visitors being unable to raise a side. The match has been rescheduled for 20th April, so put that in your diary and get their to celebrate the season. It will be a big day for Ben Fox as he plays his last ever home match for the Reds.
This leaves the Reds in 10th place on 60 points, having won 10 and drawn a remarkable 4 of their 23 matches with a game in hand on all the other clubs. The Reds top try scorer remains Matt Pritchard with 8 and Rhys Brownfield still tops the points charts on 43.
Look out for team news on Friday and if you are not travelling to Bristol why not support the 2nd XV in their cup semi-final away at Wadebridge Camels. Beware its a 12 noon kick-off.
Referee: Tom Evans - Jones.
Assistant Referees: Dave Philpot & Simon Bourne.
