Reds Director of Rugby Nigel Hambly was pleased with the Reds win at Barnes but recognised that there are still aspects of the game to be worked on.

“That was a decent win against a decent Barnes outfit that dominated the second half for sure, we stuck in there, we showed a huge amount of character in the second half and that bodes well for us.

We gave away a lot of penalties, I am not sure what the change between the first half and the second half was but we come away with four points.

After scoring three tries relatively early in the game we would have expected the bonus point but we would have settled for that at 6:30 (am) this morning when we got on the bus to travel here. Any win on the road is a good win.
Places like this have been notoriously tough for us to win in the past, we were down to 12 men at one stage so, pleased to come away with the win, but bits and pieces to work on the same as last week, we are getting there, we get into good positions but do not take advantage so that is a work on for us.

There were lots of good things, we put in some good last ditch tackles and held them up twice over the line, but we are not getting carried away. In the first half we made it easy for ourselves until we got five or ten meters from the line, then we did something random, I don’t get why we go fifty yards doing things simply then we get near the line and try something different.

I have said all the way along, let’s get six or seven games in then we will have a real idea of where we are and where the other teams are at.

We are happy, we have got a few work on’s which is good, we have got a good squad, we have won here today, no major injuries, with a couple of good bits, some bad bits and some bits to work on and we will have a decent journey home.”
