Covid19 may not have gone away but Redruth RFC is still open for business.

To All Reds Supporters

Due to Covid19 2020 continues to be an interesting time in the game of rugby to say the least! But there is a glimmer of light at the end of this long tunnel.

Community Return to Rugby Roadmap
This week the RFU announced that we have moved to Stage ’C’, of the Community Return to Rugby Roadmap, ‘F’ is back to competitive rugby with no restrictions and we need to be at ‘E’ for 1 month before moving to ‘F’. So whilst this is step forward there is still some way to go.
What does ‘C’ mean? In simple terms it means moving from training groups of 6 to allowing a revised version of touch rugby called Ready4Rugby between teams of up to 10 players, whilst still limiting this clearly allows for more interesting and varied training sessions. Currently Ready4Rugby can only be played within the club but is hoped that in September inter club Ready4Rugby matches may be allowed.
The club are currently training once a week on a Tuesday evening, why not pop along to see how Ready4Rugby looks. See the RFU website for full information.

2020/2021 National 2 South
Clearly with no date yet known of when competitive rugby can start no firm information is available regarding any league fixtures. Redruth RFC along with a number of other clubs is strongly lobbying for any fixture format to reduce travel as much as possible whilst still maintaining quality of rugby and league integrity. This is especially pertinent this season as we now know that the RFU have withdrawn ALL travel funding for NCA clubs, if the season were to go ahead with a full fixture list this would mean a reduction in income for Redruth RFC of around £16,000. With this in mind we are also lobbying for the league restructuring to go ahead in 2021/2022 as planned.
When we know you will know!

Membership & Sponsorship
I’m delighted to say that despite the uncertainty regarding rugby in 2020/2021 many members have already renewed their membership to support the club.
Just as importantly despite the enormous ‘hit’ that many firms will have suffered due to the lockdown the majority of the clubs sponsors have still felt able to support the club in 2020/2021 – thank you all, without you the club would have had a very uncertain future.

Crowdfunder
I’m delighted to report that the clubs Crowdfunder rose over £5000. A fantastic effort and thanks to all who contributed. This money has been put into the clubs savings account with a view to be used on improvements/vital refurbishments to the Recreation Ground.

Diary Dates

August 30th – Possible one day music festival
See website for further information. To be confirmed.

September 5th NatWest Rugby force
The club have been fortunate to receive a grant of £500 for repairs and refurbishment to the clubhouse and grounds. To get the club ready for the new season we need YOUR HELP. We are calling on all Redruth RFC supporters and members to help us on the day to give the club a ‘spring-clean’. OK I know it’s not spring but you know what I mean!
No special skills required but trades-persons are very welcome to give some expert guidance!
What jobs will I be expected to do?
In simple terms what you are able to do; we will be cleaning, pruning, weeding, painting, de-cluttering etc. The clubs Volunteer Co-ordinator Martin Caddy is drawing up a list of jobs for the day. I hear it’s a long list!
No equipment required but please being anything you think that may be useful.
If you can make it ideally let Alan Nettle know on alannettle@talktalk.net or if it’s a last minute decision just turn up on the day at around 10am. All are welcome even if you only make the coffee!
Oh nearly forget you get a free T-Shirt and the bar is likely to be open at 2pm!

September 11th
Redruth RFC’s first outdoor socially distanced AGM!
Members will be formally invited by letter or e-mail over the next week or so.
