Saturday 9th February 2019 – Kick-off 2.30pm
On Saturday the Reds welcome to the Recreation ground familiar visitors London Irish Wild Geese. Our visitors are currently in 14th place with 30 points and will be keen for a win to bolster their fight against relegation. Before last Saturdays match their top try scorer was George Owent with an excellent 10 and the kicking had been shared by three players, Oliver Turner 40 points, Liam Prescott 39 points and Reuben Knight 34 points. Last weekend the Wild Geese had a very good home win over Worthing by 22 - 19.
After last week’s 46 – 14 defeat at high flyers Canterbury the Reds are now in 7th place with 47 points. The top try scorers so far are Tom Notman and Jack Simmons with 6; Arron Simmonds leads the way with the boot on 89 points. With 21 games played so far this season three Reds players have made 20 appearances, they are Jack Simmons, Sam Stevens and Craig Williams.
Earlier in the season the Reds lost a very entertaining match to the Wild Geese by 28 - 33. A game notable for the fact that, with the last play of the game, Sam Stevens looked to have gone over under the posts, but, unfortunately for the Reds, the Referee ruled no try much to the relief of our hosts. Let’s hope for another entertaining match on Saturday with perhaps a different outcome.
Come on you Reds.
