On Saturday Redruth welcome to the Recreation Ground new visitors in Chester RFC who make the the long trip down from Cheshire, just the 345 miles separate the two clubs!

Chester RFC have in recent seasons been playing in National 2 North and last season finished in 7th place with a symmetrical won 13 lost 13 record. This season though a close inspection of the map showed that Chester was not in the North but in the West and so they succumbed to the dreaded level transfer. Chester run 3 men's sides, a ladies XV, colts and a full complement of mini/juniors for both boys and girls. The ground has a nice stand to keep you dry and a clubhouse to sate your thirst and they play on the ever popular 3G.
This season Chester are currently in 9th place with 42 points having won 8 of their 17 matches and have a -92 points difference. Their best win probably coming away at Hornets by 48-21 back in October. It was also in October that they defeated the Reds by 38-20.
Chester's man with the boot is James Preston (full-back/centre) 112 points and top try scorer Harrison Vane (winger) with 9.

Last week the Reds triumphed up in the 2nd city when, against Bournville, they came back from 25-3 down early in the 2nd half to win 25-29 scoring the winning try in the last play of the game. The win being all the more remarkable when the injuries sustained in first half are taken into account. This win puts the Reds into 7th place on 50 points having won 9 and drawn 2 of their 17 matches.
The Reds leading try scorer is Frankie Nowell on 7 with Ben Fox & Matt Pritchard (scorer of a 2nd half hat-trick at Bournville) hot on his heels with 6, Rhys Brownfield tops the points tally with 43.
