Redruth 1st XV set out on the long trip on Friday evening to take on Luctonians RFC in a National League 2 West encounter.

This will be the Reds 2nd visit to the Lucs ground in rural Herefordshire deep in the heart of 'Chicken Country'. They are a very hospitable club to visit and their pre-match meal experience is the best in the league and comes compete with the most amusing host on the PA you could imagine. Lucs have been having a great season and currently sit proudly on top of the league with 58 points having won 11 of their 14 matches. They have had a bit of a blip though recently and have lost their last 2 matches, at home to Hinckley and they away at Old Reds, although neither of those fixtures would be considered easy matches. Back in September Lucs gave the Reds a bit of a pasting winning 45-18 at the Recreation Ground which included a 2nd half that the Reds would rather forget. The Reds would much rather look back on the two fixtures last season which they won by 33-22 at Lucs and by 21-3 back in the Duchy.
Luctionians top try scorer is Ben Link (Hooker) with 16 just ahead of Charlie Grimes (winger) on 14, Louis Silver (scrum-half and sometime fly-half) is their top scorer on 103 points.

Last Saturday the Reds got a hard fought 14-19 victory up at Dudley Kingswinford RFC, this puts them in 8th place on 40 points. For his performance Frankie Nowell was named National 2 West player of the week, it was really player of the match as this was the only game in Nat 2 West played.
The Reds leading try scorer is the aforementioned Frankie Nowell with 7 and Jordan Gott still tops the points tally with 36.

Weather Watch: It will be a chilly 4 degrees at kick-off and will reach freezing overnight, fingers crossed the pitch will be OK.
