This Saturday Redruth 1st XV get back on the field (or at least the 4G) for the first time in seemingly ages as they make the relatively short trip to Weston-Super-Mare to take on Hornets RFC. Supporters beware if it's wet take a coat as the ground does not have a grandstand.
Hornets have had a mixed start to the season, winning 2 out of their first 3 matches but have now gone on a 4 game losing streak. Their wins both came at home against Newport (Salop) by 55-12 and Loughborough Students by 43-36. Last time out they lost to Chester at home by 21-48. Hornets specialise in high scoring matches and their games so far this season have produced 501 points, that's comfortably the most in the division. They currently sit in 12th place on 14 points with a -49 points difference.
Hornets top try score is Charlie Carter (full-back) on 4 and their top points scorer is Jamie Elswood (fly-half) on 49.
After their thrilling 40-31 points win over Loughborough Students last time out Redruth now find themselves in 7th place on 19 points.
The Reds leading try scorers are Frankie Nowell and Mackenzie Oliver both on 4 and their leading points scorer is Jordan Gott on 36.
Last season the two games between our two clubs saw Redruth do the double winning 41-31 at the Rec and 27-38 up at Hornets after taking a 28-0 lead after only 20 mins.
